Back in the Saddle... At Least Until Round 2.

It's been a while. My apologies.

As a pre-MBA, half-latina, female, East Coast, VC Analyst, I finally decided that I had one-too-many signifiers, and that it was time to knock off one of those puppies. So the past couple of months, any creative energy I have has been funneled into GMAT studying and essay questions akin to "What do you want to do with the rest of your life?" Gotta love it.

As I've gone through this process, I can't help but wonder whether the "application package" will ever become more of a LinkedIn+Blogger-esque page that would allow an applicant to link to important highlights of their web presence, in addition to containing their essays, resume et. al?

At the very least, will schools ever include "Blog / Web Presence URL:" as one of the template questions alongside "Mailing Address"? That would be a nice touch.

Anyways, this post is a cheapo (nothing easier than breaking a blogging spell by explaining the drought!), but I look forward to jumping back into the blogging dialogue.

Best of luck on the process! Forced introspection isn't nearly as fun as the voluntary kind. On the other hand, there's something uplifting in extolling one's virtues...

Best,
Matt

Don't know if I told you this already or not, but the "Web Presence:" field was the ONLY field on the USV app to get my job: http://www.unionsquareventures.com/2006/07/looking_for_the.html. They never saw a resume, references, GPA... nothing. Granted, it's a job, not B-School. But, it's a start :)

Cool post and nice to have you back in the blogging world. (I found your blog through Charlie. His blog is the ThisIsGoingtoBeBig)

As for the application change thoughts, there are definitely some companies / ideas brewing in this space. For instance, a Utah company seeing some traction is Zinch.com. They unfortunately only focus on highschool students coming in as undergraduates, but is some type of movement towards a renewed application process. I have to wonder though if the schools will actually pay for this service?

Good luck on the application process!
Best,
Rachel

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do well.

Maybe you could do a post or two on the GMAT prep process after things lighten up? :)

cheers
